Dear readers,
I have something different for you today, namely the recording of my first Substack Live.
Thank you to everyone who tuned into the live stream on Wednesday! Doing my first Substack Live was exciting and truly fun, thanks to Denyse holding my hand.
If you weren’t able to join live, or want to listen again, please enjoy the recording or read the transcript.
Denyse and I discussed our two approaches to making sure we actually write the family stories we both care so much about, and why we believe these stories are so meaningful and important. (A pound of bismuth features in one of the reasons…)
Denyse has calendar dates with an ancestor.
I hold write-ins with my siblings.
On that note, if you’re interested in writing about your dad, please join me for a write-in this coming Sunday:
Dad Write-In
Sunday, June 1, 10 am - 12pm Central Time
We'll meet on Zoom, allowing you to write from wherever you are. Upon signing up, you'll receive the Zoom link as well as a short reading for inspiration.
Our Dad Write-In Session will include:
Meet and greet
Mini lecture and several prompts to get you started
45 minutes of actually writing
Sharing what you've written, if you so choose
It will be fun, and you’ll have the real satisfaction of actually having made something of a “should,” as in “I should write this or that story about dad.”
You will have written that story.
